In case you haven’t heard, due to COVID-19, ARPA is moving several elements of our Okotok Indigenous River Camp online for 2020. The goal of this programming is to connect Indigenous Elders with the community so that they can share their wisdom and pass their knowledge forward.

These sessions are FREE so click here to see upcoming webinars for August as well as an archive of past recordings.

Upcoming sessions:

· August 18 at 1:00 pm – The Seven Sacred Teachings: Sit virtually with Elder Jackie Bromley for an intimate conversation focusing on the importance of the Seven Sacred Teachings, what they are, and the stories behind them. Elder Jackie will share her thoughts on the significance of these teachings and how they are even more relevant during historic events like the current COVID-19 pandemic.

· August 19 at 1:00 pm – A Personal Look into Residential Schools: Born in the Siksika Nation, Blackfoot Elders Kelly and Daphne Good Eagle will engage in a frank and thoughtful discussion about their time in Indian Residential Schools, its role in intergenerational trauma, and how they are now defining their roles as Elders today. Join us and we sit with these respected Blackfoot Elders and learn firsthand about this challenging part of Alberta’s history.
